an excerpt of a newspaper headlines. . .Merchants Reported Insecure Trade Route Near Geiselburg, Goblins to be Blamed Over the couple of months past, merchants has been reporting about goblins attack on trade routes heading towards and leaving from Geiselburg. The condition has been so bad that trade and diplomatic relations with Fleigen has been suspended on suspicions of sabotage. Trade routes going towards Benathia is no exception. A couple of adventurers has reported an organized goblin attack on one of their quest. Granted, the leader of the attack now has surrendered and swore to reform, but fear of doing trades has not de-escalated. The joint representative from Golden Scale and Bard's College has this to say : "Though we are undoubtedly concerned on trade routes towards our would-be allies, Fleigen and Benathia, our efforts are now focused on securing trade routes going towards our closest ally, the City-States. We are officially calling for help for any guilds that are willing to join us in the important work of securing our most precious trade route"{Guild Action CR} 4

Day Happened: 117-123 Guild: Fairy Tail Means of Completion: Momo met Toppa, the Nopon mentioned by Sirichar on his first quest to find information about his persecution and agreed to protect him as long as he told everything. Then Momo [Merchant Perk] used his connection to ask for informations from the merchants from the City States who have experienced the goblins' attacks. Momo made a map to pinpoint the location in which the ambushes often happened, then he instructed his guildmembers to clear the pinpointed forest area to make a clearer sighting spot 80 feet wide area on each side to avoid goblins' ambushes and used the woods to build hunting lodge/trading posts between each area. Padoru [Fugitive Perk] was using her underground network to provide more able bodies for choping down trees and guarding the job until it's done. Later Momo shared the plan with representatives from Golden Scale and Bard's College and shared some informations and his plan, asked if they can regulate the merchants to avoid travelling during the night, and request some help to support his plan of clearing the forest and building posts. Together with everyone, Momo then continue building a safer trading route between the two towns. Padoru, having mastered goblin language, tried to learn more about goblins' characteristic and their raid's modus operandi from the library. After she understood them, she made a simple guideline about how to spot goblins scouts and what to do when being ambushed by goblins, with the step by step illustration. She posted it on each questboard and shared it too to the Golden Scale, in hope that merchants and adventurers will find the information useful. As instructed by Momo, Padoru also tried to learn possible motives of goblin being restless from Varrok, her goblin friend. Then she scouted for days near the goblin villages to gain information and asked Varrok to spread the story of Momo." The rumor is, "The Ogre Slayer, that is now taking charge in guarding the trade route between Geiselburg and City States. Also that Toppa, whatever his case might be, is currently under The Ogre Slayer's protection."

The Fairy Tail guild treats this assignment like hunting varmints, something that they know how to do. The hunting lodge worked perfectly. The information Momo has obtained from various merchants has helped the guild to map where the attacks have been occurring. Since it's a hunting lodge, it's built to blend with the surrounding. The attack still happens, but the hunters from Fairy Tail immediately neutralized their preys, the goblins.
Padoru, however, returns with little information about the goblins. Goblins are tribal, information from one tribe/village might not apply to the other. As for the goblin village, Padoru finds none. Most goblins does not stay in one area for long, those that do, does not settle near a civilization more powerful than them, like Geiselburg. No, these attacks are carried by several different tribes of raiders. What she did great is to spread rumors that Varrok is protecting Geiselburg. Though. . . "protection" is not really in the goblins' lexicon, so the rumor that Padoru spread is actually about Varrok owning Geiselburg.
All in all, the trade route going to the City-State is now far safer. And without any unsightly guard towers to boot!
